It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Primary School at the International Community School (ICS). I am extremely proud to be part of such a rich and diverse learning community of students and teachers alike.
At ICS, we offer a wealth of opportunities to each student, and a purposeful and personalised learning experience every single day. We promote a set of values that are embedded throughout our school, from Foundation Stage to Year 13. We strive to nurture and develop our students in order for them to achieve their full potential academically whilst becoming caring, compassionate human beings ready to make a positive contribution to the wider world.
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent will ever have to make. Whilst our school website will provide you with much of the information you will need, please do not hesitate to contact me to ask any further questions. Furthermore, we would also encourage you to visit the school, in order to experience first hand what makes us so special.
I look forward to welcoming you to ICS.
Head of Primary
Our Primary School is a Two-Form Entry (2fe) programme in the Early Years, and Three-Form Entry (3fe) in Key Stages 1 and 2. Classes in EY1, EY2, Year 1 and Year 2 are typically no larger than 20 students, with a maximum of 25 students in Year 3 and above; all classes benefit from the support of full time, graduate Teaching Assistants.
The Primary School is broken down into three phases: Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Our UK qualified teachers bring with them a plethora of experience from across the globe, enabling us to blend the very best classroom practice from around the world.
Centre of Excellence
We aim to be a centre of excellence throughout the region in Early Childhood Education, and, indeed, our entire school builds on this through our #earlyyearsup strategic goal.
Discovery and Play
We recognise that children learn best through discovering, and engaging with, the world around us. In the Primary school, play and learning are intertwined, as children challenge themselves every single day.
The Primary curriculum broadly follows the UK National Curriculum 2014 for Mathematics, English and Science, all modified as needed to fit our local and international context. In addition, each class in the Primary School receives specialist teaching in Music, PE and Languages (either Arabic or French).
