Parent Staff Association (PSA)

The ICS Parent-Staff Association is a committee that acts as a liaison between parents, staff and the School's Board of Governors. The PSA's main focus is on organizing fundraising and community building activities that support the school and its programs. Our biggest events are: the welcome and farewell barbeques, and the ever so popular International Food Fair. Almost half of the funds raised from these activities goes towards supporting charitable initiatives.


Last year, these initiatives included: Polio Points, Smile-in-a-Box campaign, Winter Coat drive, and a number of smaller projects at schools and community centres in our neighbourhood. We are continuous supporters of: the Lady of Peace centre for the disabled, Al-Bunayat Centre, Zat Al-Nitaqain School, Na'ur Nursery and Al-Hussein Society. The rest of the funds we raise are used to enhance the learning experience  at the school through supporting projects that are over and above budgeted items. Last year these projects included: fitting a student wellbeing room and another one for staff, sponsoring our Dead-to-Red running team, supporting our World Scholar's Cup team and contributing to the Year 13 graduation ceremony. By sponsoring the Polio Points initiative, we aim at encouraging students to embrace the school values while contributing to the greater good by donating the number of raised polio vaccines to those in need.


We encourage all new parents to come to our meetings and put their name forward to join our team of enthusiastic volunteers!

Role of the PSA

The role of the PSA is to help the school enrich the educational experiences of all ICS students. Through the efforts of the duly elected executive committee, the PSA fulfils its role by performing a number of important functions, including:

1. Enhancing social cohesion within the ICS community through:

  • Social events

  • Charity Fundraising & Events (40% of the PSA budget goes to charitable causes)

  • PSA Newsletters

  • PSA Notice Board

  • Parent meetings

2. Supporting new families joining the school, providing information and advice about ICS and helpful tips regarding life in Jordan

3. Raising additional funds to enhance student life and learning at ICS

4. Facilitating group communication and discussion between parents and the leadership of the school


5. Reporting issues raised by the community at PSA meetings and participating in discussions aimed at finding solutions


6. Liaising with the Principal and the Board on any issues raised by members of the community at PSA meetings, or otherwise brought to the attention of PSA members


7. Discussing and provide feedback to the SLT regarding items of general educational interest to the school community

8. Supporting the Principal and SLT with the school’s ‘Parents as Partners’ programme

9. Raising awareness among the school community and showing support for the school’s Guiding Statements
