Susan qualified as a teacher of Science and Maths from University College Dublin. She has two Masters degrees, the first in Medical Molecular Biology and the second in Education, with a specialising in leadership and management. Susan has worked in Education for 25 years and taught in the UK and in China before coming to ICS. In her last role as an Education Development Officer, she worked for the Education Department in Guernsey where she was involved in school improvement and curriculum development.
Now in Amman, Susan has begun to learn Arabic and intends to undertake a further professional qualification in the next few years. Her particular strength is in strategic planning within a remit of school development, and will bring this transferable skill set to her role of Secondary Headteacher at ICS. In the classroom and in work with teachers, Susan is also very interested in recent developments in neuroscience, and how they apply to the development of pedagogy and the approaches to well-being that are used in schools.
